Today WWE has announced they releases of 8 of their Superstars today. While none of them were exactly big names, and a couple were long overdue, they were surprising nonetheless. The Superstars are:- King Barrett
- Damien Sandow
- Zeb Colter- Santino Marella
- Cameron
- Hornswoggle
- Alex Riley
- El Torito

Okay, now that the not-so-exciting part is out of the way, let's cut to the chase. I don't think the release of King Barret comes as a surprise to most. He did say he was going to leave, after all. El Torito, Cameron, and Hornswoggle probably won't be missed by many fans, so there's not going to be much dwelling on them. I mean, who can forget Cameron's extremely botched pin that made it look like she didn't know a single thing about professional wrestling. Zeb Colter, Alex Riley, and Santino will be missed by a few fans, but realistically they haven't been used a whole lot, so this does give these three to move on to bigger, better things either in or outside the ring. That isn't a dig at any of them, because I believe all of them, even Cameron, were hard workers but I also recognize how the fans viewed them.

Anyone that could hold a microphone like a snobby douchebag holds a wine bottle and makes it look good deserves a push! |
The release that's most detrimental here, and borderline criminal in the eyes of most fans, was Damien Sandow. Easily one of the best Superstars the WWE has had in the last decade, and a huge fan favorite, has been seemingly cut from WWE's roster. Of course, he could have asked for his release (really, anyone could have asked for their release that was released, it wasn't made clear by
WWE). But still, he will be missed.
Here was a person that seemingly had it all. He held the MITB briefcase and was seemingly going to be the next WWE Champion at one point. Then he cashed in on a kayfabe injured John Cena and lost clean to Cena 1-2-3 and his push was over for apparently no reason. After being given terrible gimmick after terrible gimmick fans still had hopes that one day, some day WWE would come to their senses and restore Sandow to his rightful place. That obviously never happened. At least as of this writing. Obviously, "anything can happen in the WWE", right? A comeback still isn't out of the realms of possibility, yet.
But I can't end this blog yet, even though that looks like an appropriate place to stop, because who's not on this list is more interesting than who is. Notice how neither Ryback nor Adam Rose were put on the chopping block as of this writing? Well, if you didn't you did now.

And we can't forget Adam Rose survived his encounter with Slenderman. |
For those that don't know, but Rose and Ryback have done things that would put any Superstar in hot water and would be grounds for dismissal. Adam Rose, of course, is essentially calling the WWE's wellness policy crap and Tweeting pictures of his doctor's note and Ryback of course went on a lengthy tirade on Tumblr where he essentially said he was aware he may be released, among other things.
Let me be clear, I have no hopes that either of these people get released. Frankly, I like Ryback as a wrestler, and I do have thoughts on his Tumblr blog (I'll post that at a later date), and I for one loved Adam Rose's party gimmick. Of course, I was in good company since apparently Mick Foley did as well. Rose is a person that clearly is trying his hardest to be the best he can and succeed. For that, I really, truly wish him nothing but the best and hope he gets elevated to where he should be.
